Gluteus maximus- Hip extension
- Hip lateral rotation
- Hip abduction (middle and upper fibres)
- posterior surface of ilium
- posterior superior illiac crest
- posterior surface of sacrum and coccyx
- Primarily to fascia lata at illiotibial tract
- upper posterior surface of femur
- inferior gluteal nerve: L5, S1, S2- inferior and superior gluteal arteries
- First perforating branch of profunda femoral artery
Biceps femoris- Flexion of knee
- Lateral rotation tibia
- Extension of hip (long head only)
- long head: Ischial tuberosity
- Short head: linea aspera and Lateral supracondylar ridge of femur
- Fibula head
- Lateral tibial condyle
- Long head: tibial nerve (L5,S1,S2)
- Short head: common peroneal nerve (L5,S1,S2)
- Profunda femoris artery
- Popliteal artery
- Inferior gluteal artery
Semimembranosus- Flexion of knee
- Extension of hip
- Medial rotation of tibia (esp. when knee flexed)
- Ischial tuberosity- Posterior portion of Medial tibial condyle- Tibial nerve: L5,S1,S2- Profunda femoris artery
- Popliteal artery
- Inferior gluteal artery
Semitendinosus- Flexion of knee
- Extension hip
- Medial rotation of tibia (esp. when knee flexed)
- Ischial tuberosity- Superomedial tibial shaft- Tibial nerve: L5,S1,S2- Profunda femoris artery
- Popliteal artery
- Inferior gluteal artery
