The teres minor muscle is a slender muscle which originates from the lateral border of the dorsal scapula, inserting onto the inferior facet of the greater tubercle of the humerus.

Origin

  •  Superolateral portion of scapula border

Insertion

  • Greater tubercle of humerus (inferior facet)

Action

  • Lateral rotation of arm
  • Assists in stabilisation of glenohumeral joint

Innervation

  • Axillary nerve: C5, 6

Blood Supply

  • Subscapular and circumflex scapular arteries
